As the planet changes my knowledge of the use of plants and foods for health must change as well. Living deep in the forest in the middle of an island in the middle of the ocean, I pictured myself relatively safe from environmental threats. The recent nuclear disaster in Japan changed that belief and I have had to rethink much of how I live my life. I have spent a great deal of time compiling information to help ease the health impact of radiation exposure and will share with you some of what I know.
The first thing to understand is the concept of bio-accumulation. This means now is a particularly good time to stop eating things at the top of the food chain. Animals consume plants and the toxins in their food accumulate in their fatty tissues in particular but, high amounts of contamination will be found in muscle tissue as well. This includes dairy as the fat cells store large amounts of toxins. Eggs in small amounts, organic of course, may still be fine. Sulfur contained in egg yolks is helpful in treating radiation exposure. There is also a high amount of sulfur in garlic. Sulfur supplements may also be consumed.
Growing some vegetables, especially leafy greens and using humic acid and calcium in the soil may be helpful. Chard, beets and foods high in carotenes can be beneficial. Eating lentils and beans regularly can help the body heal. Reshii mushrooms can counteract the effects of radiation. Green tea can protect against the effects of long term exposure to radiation and both green and black teas absorb radioactive isotopes and help remove them from the body. Miso soup is a classic remedy for radiation exposure. Kombucha has also been shown to be effective in some studies.
Saturating the body with minerals prevents the absorption of radioactive isotopes so mineral supplementation and ingesting a clay such as a green clay can protect by creating a barrier. Filtering water or drinking distilled water is essential and investing in a small Geiger counter to test foods can put the mind at ease.
Using a good Calcium-Magnesium product as well as supplementation with iodine is highly beneficial.
Fulvic acid is one of my favorites as it removes radioactive isotopes from the body. It can be found naturally occurring in Shiligit. I will be importing a high quality Shiligit to sell to clients so, feel free to email me if you are interested.
Coconut oil consumed regularly can help protect the thyroid and when applied to the skin can help protect it from exposure. Eating cacao regularly has also been shown to protect the skin from uv radiation by helping with skin thickness and hydration which helps create a better barrier to the elements.
These are some of the easy ways to shift into a more harmonious balance with the ever increasing challenges we face living on planet earth. I hope this has been of some help and feel free to email me with any questions. Aloha and Blessings of peace and health for you and the Planet. Please see my simple recipe for delicious healing miso.
Miso and Mushroom
A delicious and easy to make dinner that helps protect and heal the body from radiation.
Ingredients:
- White Bean Miso paste
- 6 green onions
- 2 cloves of garlic
- ½ cup mung bean sprouts
- Reshii mushrooms (small handful)
- Braggs Liquid Amino acids
- Dulse, dried or, another sea vegetable of choice (small handful)
I like to begin with a white bean miso(organic) paste. Heat filtered water to make the soup(in the amount you wish to consume). As the water heats, stir in paste in amount according to desired taste. Add a small handful of dried reshii mushrooms and a small handful of seaweed (best to use atlantic sources for the time being) and allow this to simmer. Add braggs liquid amino acids to flavor. In a separate pan, heat sesame oil and quickly stir fry green onions, garlic and bean sprouts. When vegetables are cooked but still crisp add to soup. Serve with a bowl of rice, a glass of beet, carrot and ginger juice and a cup of green tea.
Aloha,
Kori Gaila
